How recovery works
A general timeline. The doctor covers your specific case separately at your check-up and after surgery — this is just what's useful to know in advance.
A quick dressing check and exam at the clinic — after that you're free. If you came from out of town and everything looks fine, you can head home.
Follow-up, rinsing, care instructions. It's best not to plan trips to other cities during this time — not because of the surgery, but so you don't miss the check-up.
By this point the doctor usually lifts the main restrictions: some sun (with a hat, no fanaticism), back to normal activity. The doctor decides the exact moment at a check-up, not a calendar.
Full hair growth begins — before that the transplanted follicles are 'dormant', and that's normal, not a reason to worry.
Final result: the amount of hair builds up gradually the whole way through.
What matters most
- The first days — no direct sun, dust, sweat, or accidental knocks to the head (a car doorframe, a headboard).
- The first days — no spicy food and no alcohol: not a rule for its own sake, it affects blood pressure and swelling.
- Wash your hair only the way the doctor showed you — don't reach for your usual cap or shampoo before they clear it.
- Scabs normally clear on their own by day 12–14, and your first hairs become visible along with them — don't pick at them.
- If something worries you ahead of schedule — send the doctor a photo any time, they reply personally, not a staff member.
