How it works
Hair is taken from the same donor area used for scalp transplants and moved to the face one graft at a time. The volume depends on the goal — filling out the cheeks, covering a scar, shaping a jawline, or building up a mustache — usually one to three thousand grafts.
The main difficulty isn't the count, it's the angle. Facial hair grows at a much sharper angle than scalp hair and needs to lie flat rather than stick out. So the shape is drawn before surgery and agreed with you in front of a mirror — matching your idea of the result matters as much as the technique.
Recovery
- Day 2–5 Some swelling and redness in the transplanted area. Avoid touching your face; sleep on your back.
- Day 7–10 Scabs clear. From the outside the beard looks like short stubble.
- Week 3–4 Shock loss of the transplanted hairs — expected. Shaving is fine with the doctor's go-ahead, usually from this point.
- Month 3–4 Growth begins. Density builds up gradually and unevenly — that's normal.
- Month 10–12 Final result: the beard grows in and can be shaved, trimmed, and styled like your own.
Who it's for
- Patchy or uneven growth, gaps on the cheeks and chin.

When surgery has to wait
- Active cancer — the only absolute contraindication.
- Diabetes with poorly controlled blood sugar, and hypertension that hasn't yet been brought under control.
- Scalp skin conditions and active-phase autoimmune disease.
- Rapidly progressing hair loss at a young age: the pattern is still changing, so it's wiser to let it stabilize first — otherwise a new bald patch forms around the transplanted area within a few years.
