What affects the price of a hair transplant and what the cost includes

“How much does a hair transplant cost?” is the most common question and the trickiest: two offers at the same price can include completely different things. So it helps to know not only the figure but what it consists of.

Below is what influences the cost and what guides our clinic gives. Prices in this article come from the clinic’s price list and are approximate: the exact cost is set by the surgeon after a consultation.

Our clinic’s price guides

A hair transplant by FUE costs 12 to 20 million UZS per procedure (at the rate shown on the site, about $1,000–1,650). A beard transplant is 14 to 22 million UZS, eyebrows 8 to 15 million, a PRP session 400 to 900 thousand UZS. The consultation is free.

For visiting patients there are three packages. “Basic” — consultation and diagnostics, the operation and post-op follow-up — costs 12 to 20 million UZS. “Comfort” adds transfer and hotel accommodation and starts at 28 million UZS. “Premium” includes accommodation for the whole period, transfer and personal support, from 34 million UZS.

What the price of an operation depends on

The price reflects the work and time of the surgeon and team. Studies show how much time depends on the task: in hairline restoration with long-hair FUE (about 1,970 grafts in 248 patients), extraction took an average of 3.2 hours and implantation 3.8 hours (Jin et al., Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, 2024, doi:10.1111/jocd.16136), while for extensive scarring alopecia (mean 120 cm²) the operation took about 8 hours (Zhu et al., Dermatologic Surgery, 2021, doi:10.1097/DSS.0000000000002454).

In a multicenter study, graft extraction speed in long-hair FUE was about 440 per hour (Umar et al., Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology, 2023, doi:10.2147/CCID.S442822). The actual hours and graft count in your case will be named by the surgeon.

What affects size and complexity

• Size: the larger the area and desired density, the more grafts and time. In our cases, per the surgeon’s data, graft counts ranged from 2,500 to 5,200.
• Donor area and skin type: a thick, firm scalp makes extraction harder and raises graft transection (Umar et al., 2023).
• Special tasks: scars, correcting an earlier transplant, beard and eyebrows are separate kinds of work with their own price ranges.
• Additional procedures: for example PRP is paid separately, per session.
• For visiting patients — transfer and accommodation: they are in the Comfort and Premium packages.

What to ask any clinic

• What exactly you pay for: the whole procedure or each graft, and how the graft count is calculated.
• What the price includes: consultation, operation, medication, post-op visits.
• What happens if an additional session or help with a complication is needed.
• Who performs the operation and who handles follow-up.
• Whether there are extra payments and what they cover.
